One of our key changes in interment was to make it a happy occasion. In the days of yore, we know that we talk of pall to announce the death of someone. Dark, black cloth and pall in the household of the deceased.
But we were inspired by the Jubilee - an every 50 year celebration to commemorate the end of diaspora for the Jews. They were punished by God for creating other gods when Moses went up a mountain to receive the 10 commandments from God.
The end of diaspora recalled the reunification of the lost nation with God. It was a happy occasion. And the Jews when they celebrated this, was called Jubilee and it was happy occasion - slaves were returned to the parents (they were more than 50 years old and were old and weak) and debts forgiven.
And thus when we return the life that was borrowed from God, it shouldl be a time of joy not of sadness. Because the transformation is a time for happiness not sadness. We talk of someone leaving away; the other way is to look at this as return of soul unto the bossom of the Lord.
Thus we though that interment should be a happy occasion as most attempt this to be: no black clothes, no pall, bright colors, flowers for epitaph, balloons, bright music. Tarp announcement instead of pall.
Do you think it should be a happy occasion
